Why You'll Love This Role

This is a varied small animal role with a strong balance of hospital-based teamwork and independent branch work. There is regular surgical time, scope to manage your own cases, and support for further clinical development, including certificate study.

About the Role

You will work across the main animal hospital in Ruislip and the group’s branch surgeries, which are located around 15 to 20 minutes away. The branch clinics close during parts of the day so the team can return to the main hospital for additional consultations.

The rota includes two surgery days each week alongside consultations and general small animal caseload management. The role requires confidence in sole charge at branch level and a collaborative approach when working at the hospital.

The practice is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is comfortable with routine medicine and surgery, while also being able to support colleagues when needed. For candidates at the higher end of the salary range, strong surgical confidence and a willingness to teach others are important.

About the Practice

The practice is a proudly independent veterinary hospital that has cared for pets and their families since 1946. The main hospital in Ruislip underwent a major refurbishment in 2025 and now offers full surgical and hospitalisation facilities.

Clinical services include diagnostic imaging, in-house diagnostics, dentistry, soft-tissue surgery, orthopaedic services, hospitalisation, preventative healthcare and nurse-led clinics. The team includes eight Vets, with different clinical interests and experience across the group.

Benefits

- £1,500 annual CPD allowance

- Support towards a certificate

- Mentoring and clinical support from senior Vets

- VDS cover

- Cost-price veterinary treatment for your own pets

- Optional accommodation in a self-contained flat above the Greenford surgery

- 4-day working week

- Long weekends within the rota

- No on-call

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of caseload will I see?

Will I need to work independently?

Yes. You will need to be comfortable with sole-charge work at the branch practices and travelling between sites during the day.

Is there support for further development?

Yes. The practice is happy to support a Vet who wants to work towards a certificate or develop a particular clinical interest.
